Sam McKinlay
AM – Skull Skates
Sam McKinlay started skateboarding at the age of 10 in the interior of BC. His first freestyle board was a Powell-Peralta Per Welinder with Tracker trucks and Powell-Peralta V-IV wheels.
Sam had various Okanagan, BC shop and flow sponsors regularly competing in BC mini-ramp and street contests until permanently moving to Vancouver, BC in 2000 to work in the skateboard Industry and write for various skateboard publications. Primarily a bowl skateboarder, Sam has kept practicing freestyle skateboarding off and on during his spare time. These days, Sam can be seen working at Skull Skates and skateboarding usually at the Kensington pool, the Leeside barriers, and the China Creek teacup, all the while also maintaining his interest in certain stationary 1980s freestyle moves.
