For those of you that were not at last years’ World Round-Up, you missed out on an excellent opportunity to draw outside the lines. I’m talking about the new SKATE4FUN-ART4FUN Art Wall, which was the “Brainchild” of Alejandro Candioti, pictured in the center, who sponsors the Henry Candioti SKATE4FUN Award, and also our SKATE4FUN After Party. The interactive art project was built by Brit Higginbotham, painted grey by Lyle Chippeway, and tagged by Constable Troy Derrick; then, turned over to everyone to put their graffiti on the wall.
Imagine an 8-foot high by 12-foot wide wall painted light grey, then hand out 20 extra-large black felt markers and see what happens. Well, it was creative, it was fun, it was imaginative, a bit crazy at times, but the end result was fantastic. You can see for yourself as the wall is on exhibit at the 5.0 SKATEBOARDS Skate Shop located at 5654 Production Way in Langley, British Columbia.
The wall remains up until May 1st; at which time, it will be taken down, re-painted grey, and re-installed at the World Round-Up, waiting for you and your creative juices to flow. If you have an ounce of artistic ability, you are going to want to start to sketch up some cartoons and graffiti ideas so that you can put your stamp on the wall.
