Each year the World Freestyle Round-Up honours a member of our freestyle community with the Ambassadors of Freestyle Award. The award is presented to the skater who has exemplified being an ambassador and helping to nurture the sport of skateboarding.
Past recipients of this prestigious award include, Stefan “Lillis” Åkesson from Sweden, AJ Kohn from Pensilvania, Russ Howell from Utah, the Fujii brothers, Masahiro and Toshiaki from Japan, and Christen Heise from Germany. This years inductee is Bill Robertson, also known as Dr. Skateboard, who continues to introduce audiences to skateboarding through his Action Science Program. https://youtu.be/1NilIefjbEQ
In 2019 the World Round-Up, and the freestyle community, lost one of our dear friends. Matt McGeachan was one of our staff members for many years and loved helping out at the Round-Up and being with the skaters from around the world. He soon became one of the favourite faces at the event and everyone loved hanging out with him. Sadly Matt passed away in the spring of 2019. In his memory 5-0 Skateboards is honoured to present a special “Memorial Spirit of the Round-Up Award” to Matt McGeachan. https://youtu.be/Dnw38y7wAtE
Day 2 of the World Round-Up Online Showdown is now history. If you missed today’s LIVE Broadcast of the Masters Am and Masters Pro Divisions, you can still tune into the Braille Youtube channel and watch it again. After July 20th the five LIVE Broadcast shows will live on the World Round-Up Youtube Channel.
Next up is the Amateur Division. There were so many skaters entered in this division that we had to spread it over several days. Wednesday, July 15th will feature 25 of those skaters.
