“I have always been a fan of watching skateboarding, but never really got into it myself. I had become a fan of the YouTube channel Braille Skateboarding, and eventually it made me want to give it a go. Since I was 37 years old with a daughter at the time of starting, I quickly realized that jumping down stairsets and across crazy gaps was not for me, I would get hurt. So I decided that it would have to be freestyle! I’m a life long Rodney Mullen fan, so I knew that was the path I wanted to go down. I don’t regret that decision at all. I am absolutely obsessed with freestyle skateboarding now! Naturally Rodney is one of my Mentors along with Jonny Giger, Tony Gale, Mike Osterman, Witter Cheng, Andy Anderson, and Braille Skateboarding.”

Damien is a proud father, and strives to be the best dad he can be for his daughter, something that is very important to him. He works as a greenskeeper at the Osoyoos Golf Course and really enjoys spending time on the golf course with friends and has become an OK golfer as well. Damien said, “I am also into gold plating and gold leafing, I have spent a lot of money building equipment and knowledge, I can pretty much make anything gold. I truly enjoy learning, so it ends up being the thing I spend most of my time doing. Whether watching things about space or technology on YouTube, studying different metals or gold plating methods, or researching how to do new skateboarding tricks.
Recently he has taken up making skateboards, hoping to create a business selling handmade skateboards. He also has a love for music and is a huge fan, “If I’m not listening to music, something is wrong.”  He went on to say, “I played Bass Guitar in a Hard Rock band for six years in the past. I also know how to play guitar, and can smash away with a simple drum rhythm, don’t ask for the double bass metal drummer, because I don’t know that dude. Ha ha ha
“This will be my first time competing at the World Round Up. I can not express my nervousness… er.. I mean my excitement!! Let’s Go!”
